LinkedTrust – Part Two

Transparent, verified skills for workers

Client: LinkedTrust, U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Role: User Experience Designer & Mentor
Contributions: Product conceptualization and UX Design, through launch
Impact: Met project milestone outlined in contract with U.S. Chamber of Commerce, helped LinkedTrust become an active part of the workforce marketplace

“Alex is a thoughtful designer with the ability to guide a group towards clarity of vision, something we had greatly been struggling with! He was able to set the stage and gently urge a group of talented juniors to think creatively and independently, to form a vision together, and also provided ongoing mentoring to other designers. Having a grounded, user-focused approach and the ability to both pull out thoughts and guide them into a coherent whole is incredibly valuable, and I greatly appreciate Alex's contributions to the LinkedTrust project!” – Golda Velez, Sr. Software Engineer @ LinkedTrust

What makes a LinkedClaim

A LinkedClaim, developed by LinkedTrust is a blockchain-based system for making and sharing claims that provides verified authenticity, transparency, privacy, and regulatory compliance.

For the U.S. Chamber of Commerce: “Can LinkedClaims stimulate the economy?” (Part 2)

The fourth phase of an ongoing project for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – build and deploy at least one public-facing product that increases trust between employers and workers.

During a meeting with Golda Velez, - a Senior Engineer and project stakeholder - I was asking questions about the type of product we should design. To my surprise, she shared that the company’s primary focus had been on developing the underlying technology, and there was a lack of real-world uses being targeted for LinkedClaims to serve. I asked if she would consider a structured brainstorming session – this is how I was tasked with moderating the company’s first formal brainstorm. Cross-functional team members, investors, and external experts were all invited, and I led us through a series of exercise to ideate and iterate on each other’s use cases. Not only did this create the seed for services, but it became a company-wide practice. My favorite result was that some of the Designers got their big-picture ideas heard for the first time!

Our product would enable people to use LinkedClaims to create open-source, tamper-proof claims about their professional qualifications. Like all LinkedClaims, other people can independently attest to the claims, and evidence can be attached to claims for further proof. Claim-makers can choose to share any level of personal detail, but the authenticity of the claim itself will still be perceivable to others.
